Given that she reads advanced biology textbooks in her spare time, certainly. Though that might just be an intristic interest in her own forgotten designs.

Difficult to tell. On one hand Rei is already reading material far above her level when it comes to biology (in another language no less), on the other hand she shows no interest in school other than occasionally showing up.

Well, she does tell Gendo that "There are no problems" at school, that, combined with her apparent interest in reading advanced science stuff for recreational purposes suggest that the answer is yes, even despite her absences. She probably actually read those printouts Shinji & co bring her XD With a certain IQ, you can get at least Bs just from sitting in class halfway awake and listening. It doesn't automatically give you all As, but it does influence how much effort you need to invest.

You know, unlike you guys I'm OK with Rei being sad. Well it makes me sad too, but it's not the problem.

What I hate more is Rei being unable to do anything, or having no reason to do anything. That's worse, it's one of the fundamental reason for her sadness.

Rei and emotions damnit, sadness is one of them. Anger, fear, jealousy, Rei needs it all.
