I saw Yui as the ultimate Machiavelian in the series. Of all the parties trying to manipulate 3I, she's the one that actually gets what she wants. It's like she played Gendo and SEELE off each other so she could create her "Monument to Humanity" or whatever.

Indeed, I remember reading somewhere of a theory stating my above mentioned statement about the S2 organ setting limitations and liberties upon them, to make a story short it states that even though the S2 engine provides unlimited energy and possibilities in shape and form directly influenced by the angels' implied energy genetic make up, it also hinders any further evolution, implying that the don't really have the leisure time that humans do to achieve the best form, so the other possible answer could be an immediate evolution with a dead end.

Post 3rd impact my good man, not before, that is why I mentioned he knew full well of the previous statements, because they were true, and he knew it full well , post impact wise he wouldn't even be there if he didn't have any hope or resolution to at least try to go on, again knowing full well of his short comings.

He did; but as with every reluctant hero he was forced march to make the right choice, but after that, when he was again at the junction, he chose to come back, even when he knew the consequences. That shows he grew up.
I think the problem is that; for some Shinji will always be a spineless Jerk, Asuka will always be a loudmouthed bitch, Rei will always be a brick in the wall, Misato will always be a pedophile drunk...

Notice how even when Shinji got to Eva-01, there was nothing he could do until YUI decided to activate. To be blunt, even if he got there before the place was covered in bakelite, he couldn't do anything if Eva-01 refused to budge. People need to stop blaming Shinji, fuck up he is, for things and realize that if you just killed the only person who seemed to be there for you emotionally, you would be in no position to fight, too.

I don't know about you but I'm not sure how well I would of dealt with what Shinji went though when I was 14, A lot of the people who hate Shinji seem to forget that he's still a child, barely even a teenage and suddenly everyone's demanding that he fights in a giant cyborg against some strange creature to the death (with no training, Shinji couldn't even walk in his first battle). By the end of the series after everything he's been through its a miracle that Shinji wasn't in the same state as Asuka.
